Privacy, built in

Some things don’t belong on a public ledger. Your balance. Your payments.

Private by default, compliant by design

Outis is Greek for “nobody”. Which is exactly who can publicly see your balance.

Next to your public balance, Outis keeps a private one. Tokens there are encrypted notes in STRK20, Starknet’s privacy pool, and spending them takes a zero-knowledge proof that the wallet builds for you.

Inside the wallet

A private balance, one tab from your public one.

Everything here is the real wallet: the same screens in the Chrome extension and on your phone.

The Public tab: a public balance of $1,318.52 in STRK and ETH.
The Private tab: a private balance of $785.10, every token marked Shielded.

01Two balances

Public and private, one tab apart.

Public is an ordinary Starknet balance, visible on-chain. Private is held in the privacy pool, and every token in it is marked Shielded.

The Private tab before setup: a drawing of the privacy pool, with Shield going in and Unshield coming out, and a Setup Privacy Mode button.

02Set up once

A private balance. Set up once, with one proof.

Shield moves tokens from your public balance into the private one. Unshield moves them back out, to any public address.

Outis on an iPhone, sending 120 STRK with the Private route chosen: The recipient sees the amount and that it came from you. Nobody else on-chain does.

03Pay and get paid

Pay privately. Get paid privately.

Choose Private and the amount, and who sent it, stay off the public record. The person you pay sees both, as with any payment. Payments to you can land in your private balance too.

The Public tab’s Swap: 1000 STRK for 0.06025 ETH, via Ekubo.
The Private tab’s Private Swap: 500 shielded STRK for 0.030149 shielded ETH, via Ekubo.

04Swap

Swap publicly. Or swap privately.

Both go through Ekubo. A public swap trades from your public balance, in the open. A Private Swap trades from your private balance, and what you buy comes back shielded.

Unlocks with a passkey

Face ID, fingerprint or your device’s screen lock; the wallet’s signing key is derived from it. Or a password, where a passkey can’t be used.

Works with Starknet dApps

Through the standard wallet interface. Every request is shown and needs your click, and a dApp sees your private balance only with your permission.

Yours alone

Your keys come from your passkey or recovery phrase, and the signing key never leaves the wallet.

Shadow accounts, to use a dApp from a separate account that isn’t linked to yours.

Privacy score

How private is your wallet, really? Outis keeps score.

Some slips are easy to miss. One public transfer between two of your accounts ties them together for good. Outis reads the public record the way anyone could, scores your wallet out of 100, and shows you what gave you away.

Worked out in your wallet. No server is told which of your accounts belong together.

How it works

From passkey to private payment, in four steps.

  1. 01

    Create it with a passkey

Face ID, fingerprint or your screen lock. Write down the recovery phrase, shown once.

  2. 02

    Set up Privacy Mode

One zero-knowledge proof, once, and the private balance is ready.

  3. 03

    Shield, or get paid

Move tokens in from your public balance, or have someone pay you privately.

  4. 04

    Pay privately

Pick Private and press Review. The wallet builds the proof; you check the fees and confirm.

Security

Yours to hold. Yours to sign.

No signing blind. The facts, plainly.

  • Self-custodial

Keys come from your passkey or your recovery phrase. The signing key and the recovery phrase never leave the wallet.

  • What you see is what you sign

Every signature is computed from the transaction on your screen, never from a hash a website hands over. Requests that would change who controls the account, or its code, are refused.

  • Audited account code

The account contract is Argent Account v0.5.0’s audited code (audit by ChainSecurity), renamed for Outis with no logic changes.

  • Red team testing

We spend hundreds of millions of tokens red-teaming our code and infrastructure with the latest LLMs.

  • dApps ask first

Every request is shown and needs your click. Reading your private balance takes your permission, and that permission expires: an hour by default, a day at most.

Why “Outis”?

Οὖτις is Greek for “nobody”. It is the name Odysseus gave the Cyclops, so that when the Cyclops cried for help, he cried “Nobody is hurting me”.

What exactly is private?

Your private balance and the payments you make from it. Tokens there are encrypted notes in STRK20, Starknet’s privacy pool. A private payment keeps the amount, the token and who sent it off the public record. The person you pay sees the amount and that it came from you.

Using the pool is itself visible on-chain; what you did inside it is not.

Does the person I pay know it’s me?

Yes. A private payment tells the recipient which account it came from, as a bank transfer does. It keeps everyone else out.

What does a private payment cost?

A network fee and a pool fee. The wallet shows both before you confirm.

What if I lose my passkey?

Use your recovery phrase. It is shown once when you create the wallet, and you confirm it then. It is the way back in.

Can a dApp see my private balance?

Only with your permission, and the permission expires: after an hour by default, a day at most. Every request a dApp makes is shown and needs your click.
